My approach to therapy is solution-oriented, respectful, and personalized. In therapy, I help clients examine the beliefs and patterns that aren’t working, to find creative, flexible ways to approach their problems. In addition, I work with individuals and couples to create better relationships, improve their mood, manage stress, and overcome destructive behaviors (e.g., compulsive overeating, anger outbursts, procrastination).
As a therapist, I’m also in the role of "sounding board,” providing information and constructive feedback in a private and confidential setting. I also work with couples and families who would like to resolve conflicts, develop intimacy, and address issues in a safe, positive way.
I recognize that entering counseling takes a commitment of your time, money, and emotional energy. Solution-focused and skills-based models of psychotherapy (e.g.,Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy) help you see results as soon as possible. In addition, my work is always informed by scientific research in the field of psychology. I keep myself updated through ongoing professional workshops and connections to colleagues in order to offer clients effective treatment and lasting results.
With all the various theories, approaches, techniques and research being considered, my best professional guidance comes from clients, themselves, as they inform the treatment process. Together, we will address your difficulties, identify your inner talents and resources and create personalized solutions. Your viewpoints and values are always taken seriously as we mutually identify goals and treatment approaches for therapy.
