Education and Training:
- Ph.D. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Clinical Psychology)
- Predoctoral internship at the Portland VA Medical Center
- Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Durham VA Medical Center
I have received advanced training in the following treatment approaches:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Cognitive-Behavioral Couples Therapy (CBCT)
- Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for posttraumatic stress
- Motivational Enhancement Therapy for addictive behaviors.
Clinical Experience:
I have received specialized education in couples therapy training at UNC’s Department of Psychology, under the supervision of Dr. Don Baucom, a nationally-recognized expert in the practice, development , and research of couples therapy. I have worked in a variety of settings, including VA medical center, state psychiatric hospital, university hospital, university counseling center, and university psychology department clinic. At these sites I have provided psychotherapy and assessment services to a broad scope of patient populations, including adults across the age range.
Professional Development:
Because I place a high priority on professional development, I regularly engage in continuing education courses and keep up with current research findings. I also maintain a professional membership with the American Psychological Association.
